Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar

The Fairchild C-119 had cargo space the same as a railroad boxcar, 2,870 cubic feet. This one belongs to the California Department of Forestry and is used to dump retardant slurry (water and clay) on forest fires. Rent the movie Always, Splielberg slick remake of 1943's A GUY NAMED JOE, with Richard Dreyfuss as a cocky pilot who specializes in dousing forest fires from the air, and Holly Hunter as the dispatcher who loves him. We did too. Good movie with GREAT flying scenes.
